Our territory's Mediterranean climate and ideal location along the seaside are an invitation to go swimming that you can't refuse. In order to enable children to enjoy their time in the water safely, free swimming lessons are provided to all children in Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole's primary schools. This program is conducted in collaboration with teachers from the National Education system.
The ice-skating rink is another place where kids can have fun sliding around, not just in the water. School children get to go there on field trips to learn how to skate. This activity takes place at the Vegapolis Odysseum ice skating rink. Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole covers the entire cost, including providing transportation and equipment.

With three championship sports teams in 2012 (soccer, handball and water polo), Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is now recognized as the most sports-oriented community in France.
Nonetheless, not all sports have to be practiced at a professional level, and there are numerous clubs in the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole area that welcome people of all levels and age categories, from baseball and water polo to canoe-kayak, karate and much more.

We have developed a high-performance network of facilities and infrastructure throughout the territory so that everyone can practice his or her favorite sport close to home and under the best conditions. This sports and leisure equipment is adapted to the widest possible range of individual and team sports, including canoe-kayak, soccer, gymnastics, swimming, skating, rugby and much more, for kids, adults and seniors.
In 2013, our swimming pool network welcomes a new member: the Néréïdes facility in Lattes. After that, "Héraclès" will open in Saint-Brès in 2015, bringing the total number of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole swimming pools to 14.
