Organized since 2009 by Institut Agro Montpellier, along with its foundation and alumni association, this competition encourages project leaders to develop their creativity and independence, stimulate their entrepreneurial spirit, and foster occupational inclusion, while also promoting excellence and vitality among the school’s students and graduates.

683 candidates have participated in the Graines d’Agro competition since it was created. 128,500 € has been distributed to 55 projects chosen for their boldness, creativity, and ingenuity. Among the laureates from previous editions of Graines d’Agro, 13 projects already resulted in company creation, most of which were founded and grew at the Institut Agro Montpellier’s AgroValo Méditerranée incubator, according to Caroline Clenet, head of the Partnerships Department.

This year, 58 people – including 34 students and 13 recent graduates from Institut Agro Montpellier, with 11 team-members from outside the institute – participated in this 13th edition of the challenge.

Highlighting innovation and creativity

Of the 26 submitted projects, 12 were selected to participate in the final. Each finalist presented their project to a jury of experts comprising professionals in assisting startup companies (Ad’Occ, AIRDIE, AxLR Occitanie Méditerranée, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole BIC, Cirad, In Extenso, La Mêlée, Pepite Languedoc-Roussillon, and Posity), as well as representatives from the AgroSYS and AgroTIC Chairs of the Institute of Warm Regions’ DEFIS department, Institut Agro Montpellier Métropole alumni, with patrons Groupama Méditerranée and Pepite Languedoc-Roussillon.

The jury chose six projects and distributed a total amount of 10,500 € in awards.
