Since 1997, Bec Construction has taken on 78 people with difficulties finding work. From 2004 to 2018, the company hired 24 people with open-ended contracts from BTP Hérault, an employer association for vocational inclusion and qualification (Geiq) that Bec helped create.

We didn't wait for legal social clauses to be included in public procurement contracts to focus on vocational inclusion, just like Montpellier Métropole and its dedicated teams that played a driving role for the effort. They also keep a close eye on the implementation of our agreement,” points out Thierry Jeanjean, Human Resource Director at the construction subsidiary of the Fayat Group located in Saint-Georges d’Orques, just west of Montpellier.

Above all, the company chose to support inclusion because of its strong sense of social responsibility.

Promotion to team leader

It was hard to find candidates for public works jobs. We therefore implemented an adapted platform, now recognized nationwide,” explains Thierry Jeanjean.

It establishes custom vocational paths, mainly with Geic BTP Hérault and Pil Emploi, a temporary agency for job inclusion. These organizations preselect candidates, with regular follow-up by a dedicated contact who also helps them solve personal problems, such as finding housing.

From school dropouts to job seekers seeking a new career, employees on professionalization contracts are also supervised by a site manager.

Our goal is to offer everyone professional experience and job opportunities, as well as the means to evolve,” explains Thierry Jeanjean, referring to the case of a young worker who was promoted to team leader and now wishes to become a site manager.
