Information updated on 23/11/20

Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole innovated for MICC 2020 by organizing its sound-related activity and creating the first podcast competition in the “C Dans Le Son” space. It’s time to discover the competition’s awards and revelations!

C Dans le Son : 1er Concours de Podcasts de la Métropole de Montpellier

This original event seeks to bring together the otherwise unrelated worlds of podcasts and startups, while also boosting the Cultural and Creative Industries sector. “ The sector generates fresh excitement every day, along with new jobs,” highlights Hind Emad, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Vice President in charge of Economic Development and Digital Technologies.

On October 5-6, Montpellier BIC welcomed podcasters who recorded a wide variety of sounds and interviewed five BIC companies: Kinvent, Anatoscope, Sportihome, Wefight, and Konenga. What did participants have to do? Discover the startup and podcast worlds by creating a two-and-a-half-minute podcast. In keeping with the times, the podcast is a new communication tool that is entirely compatible with today’s current health issues.

On October 30, both behind closed doors and online, the participants revealed their creations to a panel of seasoned professionals in the audio world. The event was planned as part of the “C Dans Le Son” event (roughly translatable as “It’s in the Sound”) organized by the Coodio cluster in partnership with Radio Clapas and DoTank.

The meetings and round tables that were planned initially had to be postponed because of France’s new confinement measures. The new date will be set soon.

Focus on Montpellier BIC

Montpellier is recognized in France as a metropolitan area that produces innovative and successful companies that create jobs and wealth. Since it was founded in 1987, Montpellier BIC has assisted 757 companies, which have created over 5,400 direct jobs. The startup survival rate is a record-breaking 91.4% after three years (compared to 72% nationally), and 83% after five years (compared to 60% nationally).

Focus on the Coodio cluster

Coodio is a professional cluster for audio, radio, and voice. It unites stakeholders across the entire value chain, including radio stations, content creators, tool providers, studios, startups (involved with applications, podcasts, HiFi, and more), training programs, research, and organizations in the sector that want to be involved in a partnership approach.
This collaborative ecosystem promotes a common strategy of sharing, collaborating, and experimenting. Coodio seeks to be a vector for synergy among its members and with other sectors.
