A major player in startup funding, the Initiative Montpellier Pic Saint-Loup association focuses on sponsorship and professional networking for entrepreneurs. The commitment is effective and helps ensure business longevity.

Founded and directed by entrepreneurs, the Initiative Montpellier Pic Saint-Loup association (IMPSL) provides honorary loans to about one hundred new businesses and take-overs every year, 80% of which are based in the Montpellier Métropole area. The survival rate of these companies after three years is 86%. In addition to assistance offered by the association, one of the keys to success is that nearly one-third of IMPSL’s 80 volunteer company directors take on a sponsorship role with their new peers and help integrate them into their professional networks.

Muriel Fournier, managing director of Espace Propreté, offers her support to Mohamed Nassiri, who founded D3 Nettoyage, an extreme cleaning company based in Montpellier’s La Mosson district.

I introduced him to the network of cleaning companies and my suppliers, and I continue to answer his questions concerning quotations, prospecting, strategy, and more,” explains Muriel Fournier, who appreciates the “interesting and educational” commitment.

The support is important for Mohamed Nassiri, who benefits from her network and advice to build his activity, helping him “take on the challenge of creating a company more serenely.
IMPSL has been involved with many local success stories, from Modulauto (car sharing service) to Aquafadas (software applications) and Mad Monkey (climbing room for children).

Leading associative network for funding and assistance

The association also created the “Neighborhoods Excellence Fund” as a boost for project leaders based in priority neighborhoods and people who wish to set up their activity in those neighborhoods. The fund receives financial support from Montpellier Métropole, the French government, Occitanie Region, and Bpifrance. The “Neighborhoods Excellence Fund” has contributed to over 50 projects since 2017. Exemplary innovation that has spread within Initiative France, the leading associative network for funding and assisting business creators and buyers, of which IMPSL is a member.

A long-time partner of the association, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole provides support for all its actions and participates in its loan fund. Major groups such as Système U Sud have also joined IMPSL to provide their support for company creation in the area.
