A look back at ActInSpace 2022, the event’s 5th edition!

Information updated on 27/12/22

Over 400 teams competed around the world for 24 hours to come up with ideas for the products and services of tomorrow based on patented space technologies, taking on one of the 30 challenges proposed for the event!

Their mission? Working non-stop for 24 hours, teams take up one of the 30 challenges proposed by CNES, ESA, and their ActInSpace® partners based on their patents or satellite data. The concept is for the teams to dream up products and uses for everyday life for the benefit of the public, jobs, and our planet, all in a friendly and stimulating environment.

AIS 2022 was held on November 18 and 19, simultaneously in 34 countries and 65 cities on 5 continents, including 14 cities in France. In Montpellier, the event was held at the IAE facility.

Initially created by CNES in 2014, and co-organized by ESA since 2016, ActInSpace was presented by the Montpellier BIC, Aerospace Valley, and IAE Montpellier.

Congratulations to all the teams for their hard work, dedication, perseverance, and positive attitude during this event!

The next step of ActInSpace® 2022 will be the finals. National finals in each country will be followed by an international final. The French final and the International final will take place on February 13 and 14, 2023, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, showcasing the most outstanding projects.

Led by students at the University Technology Institute of Montpellier-Sète, the GNSSAFE project for GNSS signal certification won the ActInSpace® Montpellier grand prize and will represent the city at the national final.
