A platform to support local businesses

The city of Montpellier and the Hérault Chamber of Commerce and Industry are taking action to support local businesses in partnership with the Hérault Chamber of Trades and Artisans and the Union for Local Businesses.

Following announcements by the French government, the city of Montpellier and the Hérault Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) are working together to support local businesses. They have launched a digital platform that presents all the businesses in the territory that want to be listed who continue to provide their products and services despite confinement. These businesses have had to come up with innovative distribution methods, including store pick-up by appointment, home delivery, and more.

“Launched in early November, this platform is a showcase to encourage local merchants and provide them with additional exposure.”

The new platform notably enables merchants to:
  • Highlight their available product offerings, with product photos, descriptions, pricing, purchasing conditions, delivery and pick-up information, and more.
  • Offer delivery and in-store pick-up.
  • Businesses that do not yet offer these types of services can publish their contact information to help increase contact with customers.

How does the platform work?

“The goal of this platform is to offer visitors an easy, interactive, and practical user experience.”

A home page with an advanced search engine leverages keywords to help visitors discover businesses by theme, product type, and more. They can then interact with merchants directly using a contact function. This enables them to ask questions and request information about products and purchasing conditions.

Training on digital technologies for merchants

The city of Montpellier and Hérault CCI also support merchants with digital technologies, helping them handle their activities and develop their online stores by providing Internet-based training and encouraging the use of distribution service platforms with which special rates have been negotiated, such as:
