Third edition of a Tramway Named Startup!

Information updated on 14/12/21

The Montpellier tramway becomes a mobile startup incubator to bring innovation stakeholders and company creators together, across all business sectors in the territory. The event then continues at the Montpellier Métropole building.

Un tramway nommé startup, troisième édition !
An initiative of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, organized by Visionari, A Tramway Named Startup is back for its 3rd edition on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. As in 2016 and 2018, the tramway is transformed into an accelerator for projects, companies, and meetings by enabling connections between project leaders, entrepreneurs, and all the innovation stakeholders in the Montpellier Métropole area.

“While nearly 100% of all startup founders are assisted during their development, almost 60% of other company founders choose to remain alone, despite the presence of many public and private professionals. Providing a space for short 15-minute meetings gives them a chance to get together and bypass classic assistance codes that are sometimes considered too cumbersome.”

As with the first two editions, this year’s event will feature a competition for "Committed Companies", open to all entrepreneurs and project leaders, to come up with new solutions related to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Objectives.

In the tramway:

  • 10:15 AM - 10:45 AM:
First tramway ride.
Start at the La Mosson station. Participants for each leg will be invited to get off at the Léon Blum stop to head over to the Pelloutier Room in the Montpellier Métropole building.
  • 11:55 AM - 12:30 PM:
Second tramway ride
Start at the La Mosson station. Participants for each leg will be invited to get off at the Léon Blum stop to head over to the Pelloutier Room in the Montpellier Métropole building.
Project leaders, founders, and entrepreneurs thus have an opportunity to meet with experts and public and private assistance structures divided into three main groups identified inside the tramway car:
  1. SPEED COACHING: entrepreneurship consulting – marketing, innovation, sales, communication, HR...
  2. SPEED DESIGNING: product and service design, digital economy, web development…
  3. SPEED BANKING: funding, insurance, investment...
Each project leader or entrepreneur gets 15 minutes to talk with a given expert. The two tramway rides are long enough for several meetings, enabling people to cover all the potential questions they may have.

Arrival:

  • 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM:

Event partners have developed a “creator journey” in the form of an original tramway map, providing information regarding the best steps and directions to building a committed and successful company. Designed by Visionari and developed by Patte Blanche, each step was jointly established leveraging the skills and expertise of each partner. The result is a printed and digital map intended to become a model in France for a new type of entrepreneurship that is committed and innovative.

The map describes 5 lines, with 10 stops, providing meaningful and thought-provoking answers to questions. The map is available here
