Women and digital technology: La Mêlée launches its white paper

Information updated on 30/11/21

On October 14, La Mêlée celebrated its fifth anniversary in Montpellier and published a white paper on a key topic for the association and our society: Women and digital technology.

The title of La Mêlée’s recent white paper is “Women and digital technology: a state of emergency, 25 proposals for businesses and local authorities.”

The white paper details 25 proposals intended to raise awareness and attract the attention of territorial authorities, companies, and teaching and training institutions in order to foster concrete actions and measures. Published officially for the fifth-year anniversary of the association’s Montpellier branch, the white paper provides an opportunity to examine the status of women in today’s digital world, supported by figures and recommendations. It also highlights local initiatives that seek to promote and increase the presence of women involved with digital professions.

Overview of the context that led to writing this white paper

The introduction to La Mêlée’s new white paper looks back at events organized by the association in 2021, prepared for the Women and Digital Technology commission:
  • “More women in digital fields, a real opportunity for territorial economic development”:  a morning session organized on March 11, 2021, with a round table featuring three experts, attracting over 100 online participants.
  • “The Digital Woman”: a virtual event organized on April 15, 2021, featuring interventions by 30 experts during a keynote presentation, discussion, and four round tables over five hours live on YouTube. Over 300 people attended.
These opportunities to exchange and share ideas with others brought together Occitanie regional experts from many different fields. People were invited to regular work sessions focusing on innovative solutions that have been implemented, in efforts to draft concrete proposals for action in the territory.
