CILcare: “The BIO International Convention lived up to all of its promises”

Information updated on 20/06/18

A successful mission to the BIO International Convention in San Diego! All nine Montpellier companies accompanied by Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole to this major international biotechnology event praise the initiative’s positive effects.

One of them is CILcare, a Montpellier company specialized in hearing health. Present at the Montpellier France Health Hub booth from June 19 to 22, 2017, the company was able to organize at least 25 business meetings, which “will result in a dozen proposals to be transformed into contracts within the next 6 months,” according to Célia Belline, co-founder of CILcare. “In addition to the business meetings, strong attendance by companies at related events organized by Eurobiomed and Business France also enabled us to expand our network to reach new partners and potential clients. The conference really lived up to all of its promises,” she adds with satisfaction.
Hearing health for all with CILcare The BIO delegation went to San Diego as part of the Montpellier Health Capital project, a collective initiative seeking to assist companies and help develop the local health sector. CILcare participates actively in the effort. Assisted by Montpellier BIC, and with its offices at Cap Omega, CILcare works with biotech, medtech, and pharmaceutical industry companies to develop new medical drugs and devices to treat hearing loss, tinnitus, and earaches.
“15% of the world’s population today suffers from hearing loss, including one out of every three people over 65. The increasing prevalence of hearing issues is worrisome, in particular with the aging population, exposure to noise, and some drugs (such as anti-cancer drugs and antibiotics),” adds Célia Belline. Facing such a major public health issue, CILcare was founded in 2014 with a mission to seek new therapies to “give hope to millions of people suffering from hearing disorders, waiting for solutions to improve their quality of life.”
In 2017, CILcare expanded its business activity by opening a subsidiary in the Boston region in the United States, a worldwide hub for life sciences. The team today comprises 12 employees and has 2 job openings currently posted. “This action by Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole corresponds well to our own development plans, offering real involvement by institutional stakeholders in the field, by our side to clearly understand the challenges we encounter on a daily basis and help us respond with an adapted offering. We are very grateful for this support, which generates value directly for companies within the territory while also increasing their exposure,” highlights Célia Belline.
