In December 2016, Languedoc Mutualité’s two health facilities and six others belonging to Eovi Mcd joined forces to create the Eovi Mcd Santé et Services (Health and Services) group. With this merger, the group wants to innovate by offering full coverage to all its members, which will differentiate it from traditional mutual insurance providers. Its goal is to become one of the leaders in France for health services and treatment.
The concept of “strength in unity” led the eight member groups of Eovi Mcd to form a single, larger group named Eovi Mcd Santé et Services. “Complementary health care insurance is the core business for most mutual providers. In addition to those services, we will also provide all our members with the establishments able to provide the care and services that we cover,” explains René Game, CEO of Languedoc Mutualité and Eovi Mcd Santé et Services.
Languedoc Mutualité comprised about thirty smaller mutual providers in the Languedoc-Roussillon area. With its 1,000 employees and €100 million in annual sales revenue, Languedoc Mutualité represents a quarter of the overall group that was assembled in December 2016. The larger group now unites eight mutual groups in the south of France’s PACA, Rhône-Alpes, and Occitanie regions. It includes 190 establishments organized to handle three main activities: health (clinics and health care centers), medical-social (Ehpad retirement homes), and services (pharmacies, optical centers, dental health, child care, centers for handicapped people, etc.). Languedoc Mutualité brings its establishments to Eovi, such as Beausoleil in Montpellier, and La Catalane in Perpignan. Previously, only one other mutual provider in the group had a clinic. “Pooling our resources also gives us significant financial and development power, which makes us one of the four leading mutual groups in France,” adds René Game. This merger has already made it possible, for example, to equip the Beausoleil clinic with a robot to assist with prostate surgery interventions. “We will be one of the few providers in France to be able to do that,” says the CEO.
