OCEASOFT connected sensors soon in our pharmaceutical product boxes

Information updated on 20/06/18
Assisted in its early days by Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole BIC, OCEASOFT is a specialist in protecting sensitive products. The company signed a major deal with an American pharmaceutical giant to provide up to 1.5 million sensors over three years. Founded in 1999 and listed on the stock exchange since 2015, OCEASOFT is thriving in Montpellier, collaborating on numerous projects with Montpellier researchers.
OCEASOFT’s new Phoenix® product is a small-footprint sensor solution that features accuracy, miniaturization, wireless range of 50 meters, 3-year battery life, and international certification. Laurent Rousseau, the company’s CEO and founder, explains that these benefits convinced an “American pharmaceutical giant to sign OCEASOFT’s largest contract since it was founded in 1999. We are pushing to create an industry standard in the pharmaceutical drug sector, where many products are temperature sensitive.” OCEASOFT offers its innovative wireless connected solutions for monitoring temperature, humidity, and other physical parameters to help protect sensitive products in many sectors. For example, the company’s smart sensor products are used in food, service, logistics, and distribution markets.
The Montpellier company earned sales revenue of €6.1 million in its previous tax year, representing annual growth of 18%. Listed on the Alternext Paris stock exchange since January 2015, OCEASOFT now employs 81 people. The company opened a subsidiary in the United States one year ago.
Laurent Rousseau adds “Without the first three years of assistance provided by Cap Alpha, our next steps would certainly have been harder. Their assistance helped us think about strategy and make the right decisions, especially how to avoid common pitfalls and how to seek investors. We have also benefited from our participation in international missions organized by Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole.” For OCEASOFT’s CEO: “The Montpellier ecosystem is a system that works well, with stakeholders forming a tight community. We also share a common desire to boost the local economy.” Montpellier’s dense research sector is another benefit of the area. For example, OCEASOFT collaborates on projects with the LIRMM and IES, two local excellence laboratories. The company is participating in the “Human at Home” project for a connected apartment, involving about one hundred Montpellier researchers. OCEASOFT is also involved with a nano-satellite project with the University Space Center. “I am a firm believer in a ‘Made in Montpellier’ approach,” adds Laurent Rousseau.
