Osmozis seeks become the European leader for “connected vacations”

Information updated on 20/06/18
Osmozis is one of the leading French providers of mesh WiFi installations for campgrounds and vacation residences, with 1,000 sites equipped in France. Seeking to become the leader, the company announced plans to move ahead with its stock market introduction on Alternext Paris. New office space will enable the company to double capacity by mid-2017.
Osmozis is showing its ambitious objectives: the Clapiers-based company founded in 2005 by Gérard Tremblay and Yves Boulot, is targeting revenue of €20 million by 2020. On December 22, Osmozis announced its plans to go public on the Alternext Paris stock exchange to further fund its development. With some 1,000 tourist facilities equipped with its mesh WiFi terminal networks, Osmozis is among the leaders in France. In just a decade, the company has connected nearly 200,000 camp sites, representing about 20% of the French base. The market is far from being saturated: “Only half of the campgrounds in France have one or more WiFi access points,” explains Gérard Tremblay, CEO of Osmozis. Osmozis has also enriched its offering with services for intervention management, wireless video protection, and providing event information on smartphones. It has also designed audio alert systems for emergency evacuations. The company’s focus is on innovation. “We must stay at the cutting-edge of technology,” says Gérard Tremblay. Osmozis is notably collaborating with the University of Montpellier Institute of Electronics.
Growth will also come from the company’s international efforts. After setting up its first subsidiary in Barcelona in late 2014, Osmozis opened additional subsidiaries in Milan in 2015, then in Saarbrucken and Amsterdam in 2016. The company’s expansion has been successful: consolidated sales revenue rose to reach €8.2 million for the 2015-2016 tax year (ended in August), representing growth of 29%. “There are 70,000 sites still to be equipped in Europe.” Now with 61 employees, the team will continue to grow along with sales. “We will need to hire people for installation and support functions in 2017.” New workspace of 1,600 sq. meters being built in Clapiers will enable Osmozis to double its production capacity by the summer of 2017 to reach 17,000 mesh WiFi terminals per year, and to accommodate up to 100 employees in the coming years.
