Health

Home to Europe’s oldest still-active medical school, the Montpellier area is a key cluster for health activities. Come join those who are creating tomorrow’s medicine.

Health: extensive history combined with a project for the future

Montpellier is a world-class research area, with a leading university (ranked 3rd in France for life sciences and medicine), a major university hospital (France’s top 6th CHU), high-level research centers, large companies (including Bausch + Lomb, Bio-Rad, HORIBA Medical, and Sanofi), many innovative small- and medium-sized companies (1/3 of the startups assisted by Montpellier BIC are in the health field), and the Eurobiomed competitiveness cluster, the leading health network in France and leading European network for medical diagnostics.

Montpellier is particularly at the cutting edge of the medical diagnostics field. Strong points for the territory also include e-health, cancer research and treatment, regenerative medicine, infectiology, innovative therapies, the silver economy, and research on rare diseases.
