Octipas raises €2 million

Information updated on 20/06/18
Developer of point-of-sale digitalization solutions, Octipas now equips 600 stores for a dozen different brands. In its early growth, the young innovative company based in Pérols was assisted by the Montpellier BIC. In late 2016, Octipas raised €2 million to accelerate growth and increase its international effort.
Everything is going well for Octipas, the young innovative startup founded by Nicolas Passalacqua in 2010 in Montpellier. The company, specialized in digitalizing points-of-sale, raised over €2 million from three international investment funds (American and Scandinavian), along with the regional venture capital fund Soridec, and several Business Angels, including François Legros (former CEO of Genesys Conferencing in Montpellier). These new resources will help reinforce the Octipas staff, now located at the Le Liner building in Pérols since the company graduated from the Montpellier Business and Innovation Centre (BIC): “Our team of 12 employees could grow to 20 within the next eight months,” estimates Nicolas Passalacqua.
Leveraging an “omnichannel” approach, Octipas solutions enable sales staff in stores to use tablets connected with their brand’s information system to better answer customer questions, check stock directly, take orders, enrich the database, and more. About a dozen different brands, including Celio, The Kooples, Madura, and Eram, have already chosen Octipas, which now plans to work with these customers internationally.
Nicolas Passalacqua was able to rely on the BIC during the company’s early growth phase: “BIC is a true startup accelerator. Project managers were always there to answer our questions and put us in touch with the right people. Training sessions on company creation, referencing, internationalization, and managing fund raising are a major resource for helping young entrepreneurs. Creating Octipas in Montpellier gave us the benefit of being submersed in an ecosystem that is rich with innovative and dynamic companies.” Octipas expects this vitality to result in “doubling sales revenue in 2017.”
