Looking back at the “Rencontres pour l’Emploi” job fair

Information updated on 23/02/21

The “Rencontres pour l’Emploi” job fair was held this year entirely online from January 9 - 22, in an effort to stay closer than ever to companies and people seeking jobs. Here’s a quick summary of the successful event.

The annual Rencontres pour l’Emploi job fair is always a highly anticipated event. This year, Montpellier Métropole and its partner Pôle Emploi, the French national employment agency, were committed to holding the event despite the health crisis in order to continue facilitating contact and meetings with recruiters and job seekers.

“The economic situation is quite harsh. The health crisis is intensifying the social crisis,” said Michaël Delafosse on January 6, while signing a reinforced partnership agreement with Pôle Emploi Hérault.

Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole chose to mobilize all its partners* to adapt this year’s job fair to a new format to match today’s unprecedented context and strengthen actions implemented by all parties to fully support economic recovery and employment in the area. For that reason, the 2021 event was held from January 9 to 22 and was redesigned with a 100% virtual format, which was essential.

This year’s edition perpetuated a well-established tradition: 96 recruiters participated in the online recruitment conference at the heart of the Rencontres pour l’Emploi job fair. 464 verified job offers were made, with 2,336 candidates applying. Contact between recruiters and job seekers continued outside the conference to take care of preselected candidates who had not yet gone through the interview process, as well as the many spontaneous applications received by recruiters unrelated to the positions offered during the conference.

Web conferences, workshops, practical sessions, and mock-interview practice were offered throughout the event, providing participants with as much information as possible regarding hiring, holding onto jobs, discovering local programs designed to help diversify recruitment, and better understanding different career opportunities.

A new “Click and Recruit” web series was also created and broadcast, featuring testimonial interviews held during the Rencontres pour l’Emploi job fair with local stakeholders in a position to help economic players hire new talent.

In order to further participate in helping to promote job offers in the area, and facilitate access for metropolitan residents, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is creating an online tool to present job offers in real-time as they are made available to Pôle Emploi and its partners. Check back in a few weeks for the launch of this new digital tool!
